Memories of Home

Just fading memories
And thoughts rolling 'round
Of a colorful, quaint,
And cozy hometown.
Suburban-esque/Rockwell,
Long-time ago,
Memories of rainstorms
And pictures of snow.
Memories of friendships,
Beaus, and the rest,
Adventures of youth,
And fun at it's best.

Loved Evermore

More than sufficient,
Your grace is amazing,
And I'm overcome
By a love
That is blazing.
It pierces my heart,
Straight to the core,
To know I am cherished
And loved evermore.

Wednesday

Sweet Sixteen

You grew in my belly
So near to my heart
I knew that I loved you
Right from the start
Now you're sixteen
So tender and sweet
In my little world
You're branded a treat
I see you maturing
And I want to hold on
But I have to let go
For you to be strong
Strong in the essence
Of who you should be
While remaining the treasure
That you are to me

Tuesday

The Battery Died

I started a poem
And ended with two,
As words on the page
Exponentially grew.
But, as luck would have it,
Sleep knocked at my door.
Then the battery died
And the words were no more.
I could not believe,
When I woke the next day,
My computer had acted
In such a strange way.
Normally the data
Would quickly restore
When powering up
The computer once more.
But lost are the words
I wrote in a blog,
Surrendered to sleep
Surrounded by fog.

The Boston Marathon

The Boston Marathon

God, it's so grievous
that men would invoke
explosions of terror
through hatred and smoke.
God, it's so grievous
that people would die,
that limbs would be lost
and nations would cry.
Lord, help the victims
to process and mourn
all that was lost,
surmounting the scorn.
Be with officials,
uncovering truth,
that persons of interest
they would uproot.
Don't let this evil
and vicious attack
put chinks in our armor,
causing us slack.
Give us determined
and fervent resolve
to stand up and conquer,
that they not evolve.

Marathon Mania

Marathon Mania

The marathon runners took pride in the race
Until all the madness invaded their space
Killing and maiming, and stealing their joy
Overturning their victory with the death of a boy
My heart is so grieved that a child is lost
As well as the others paying the cost
God give us mercy and show us your face
That we, in our weakness, would experience grace

Friday

Friday the 27th

I thought out my day and plans were in gear
Some music for worship and a sermon to hear
Time with my brother and time with a friend
Unlimited minutes, conversing no end
An e-book to read, a movie for fun
And chat with a friend who's feeling undone
But suddenly plans were all blown away
When the power went out in the mid of the day
So now there's no phone, computer or lights
Just absolute silence and darkness of night
I hope I'll be able to sleep through it all
Till the power's restored and I awake to a call
But God in His glory has already heard
The prayer that I spoke and He answered each word
By sending me neighbors who care and support
By giving me help to hold down the fort
Angels of mercy, truly God-sent
Our friendship together is no accident
